Discusses the history and physiology of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Reviews the negative findings of the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) and notes that those results reflect HRT with Horse Estrogen and Synthetic Progesterone and does not reflect the results when analogs of natural hormones are used. When biologically identical hormones are used health and wellness improve and there are none of the serious adverse results noted by the WHI. Article essentially concludes that given the preponderance of evidence, women should feel confident that bioidentical hormone replacement, when appropriately prescribed, offers a safer and more effective alternative to conventional HRT to help relieve menopausal symptoms and optimize long-term health.
