This is a spectacular 2019 article that shows the safety and, in fact, the cardiovascular health improvement that can be seen with Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). These authors studied 1,470 men with a history pre-existing high cardiac risk, know history of prior heart attack and known low testosterone levels. They then studied recurrent heart disease and mortality rates among those men that were not treated with Testosterone, those that were treated but not normalized and those men that were treated with Testosterone and their blood levels were normalized. The study reported that “normalization of Testosterone levels after TRT was associated with a significant decrease in all-cause mortality”. Additionally, this study “did not show an association between TRT and adverse cardiovascular outcomes”. They conclude that the “results from [this] study illustrate that in a high cardiovascular risk population with a history of heart attack, TRT with normalization of Testosterone levels is associated with decreased all-cause mortality. In essence, when TRT is used in high risk cardiac patients, and testosterone levels are normalized, the risk of death from all causes (including cardiac causes) decreases. One can surmise from this article that TRT is safe, effective and increases health and longevity.
